SCENE AT TRIAL.

Murder Jury's Verdict Cheered

In Court.

" UNSOUND MIND" DECISION.

(Received 10.30 a.m.)

PERTH, this day.

There was an unprecedented scene in the Criminal Court when the jury returned a verdict of not guilty on the ground of unsoundness of mind in the case in which Laurence Mollor was charged with having murdered his son. When the foreman delivered the verdict a score of women jumped to their feet clapping their hands and cheering.

The Chief Justice, Sir John Northmore, was unable to make himself heard. He ordered the gallery to be cleared, and when this was done, after prolonged uproar, Mollor was ordered to be detained during the Governor's pleasure.

At the inquest it was alleged that Mollor killed hie son, aged about 14, "when in a dreamlike state."
