TEMPERANCE WORK.
The annual peace meeting of the Auckland District Women's Christian Temperance Union was held this week in the temperance room, Unity Buildings, when Mrs. Hugh Kasper presided over a large gathering of members and visitors. After devotions, led by Mrs. John Cook, the Rev. C. E. Emmitt, of Takapuna Methodist Church, gave an address on the work of the League of Nations. Two sacred solos were rendered by Mrs. Hipwell, of Mount Eden.
The following resolution was passed unanimously:—"Realising that tho private manufacture of and traffic in armaments are tho main causes of the failure of' the Disarmament Conference, and the greatest menace to world peace, the members of tho Auckland District Women's Christian Temperance Union, at their pe& ••e meeting, affirm their entire opposition to, and condemnation of, the traffic in arms for private profit. They desire to urge the Governments of this country and of every other country, to do all in their power to put an end to euch traffic."
