LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
MEETING OF COUNCIL. CANTERBURY PLAYER'S CASE. "WELLINGTON AFFILIATION CANCELLED. The council of the New Zealand Rugby Football League met last evening, Mr. Cyril Sneddon presiding, and extended a ■welcome to Mr. P. "Wheatley, treasurer of the Otago League. The Auckland League advised that a close season was to be observed with regard to passes to the new grandstand the revenue from which was to be devoted to the paying off of the stand cost. The letter was received, and it was decided to look into records to ascertain the effect of a charge on the New Zealand League's life medallion holders. The West Coast League submitted notice of a remit to the annual meeting of the council asking that in the case of direct delegates of the South Island attending, their travelling expenses as far as "Wellington be paid by the council. The League also advised that Rev. Bro. Paschal, who had charge of two school teams on the Coast last season, and had rendered excellent service to the game, had been transferred to Sacred Heart College in .Auckland. Considerable discussion took place in connection with the case of J. Wakefield, a New Brighton Club player, who was disqualified by the Canterbury Rugby League late last year to the end of the season, for having struck a player and then the referee in the match against Sydenham. The Canterbury Referees' Association made the appeal, its League stating that Its decision on the matter had not been unanimous. Several members objected to interfering with the Canterbury Leag-ue's decision, and a motion that no action be taken was lost in favour of one increasing the Jisqualifica-' tion for another twelve months. Messrs. E. Stallwortby (Northland) and W. J. Taylor (South Auckland) desired to have their votes recorded against the council's decision. The chairman, in reply, said that the council was the governing body, and did not deserve to exist if it could not rectify any inadequate action by an affiliated body. Mr. N. Kyle reported that the Taranaki League had done well in its first season. The council decided that, owing to the resignation of the Wellington executive, the affiliation of that League was cancelled. The transfer clearance of C. McDonald (Hamilton) to Mount Albert Club, and the reinstatements of F. Barakat and J. Sissons (South Auckland) were approved. Correspondence also was dealt with from Hawke's Bay and New South Wales. CITY ROVERS AT ONEHUNGA. A special trial match between senior and reserve grade League players of the City Rovers Football Club will be played at the Farm Groundß, Onehunga, to-morrow at 2.30. A special meeting of all grades of the same club will he held at Carlaw Park on Sunday morning. DELEGATE HONOURED. MR. POLLOCK'S SERVICES. Sincere regret at the loss ot the services of a valuable administrator was expressed at the meeting of the New Zealand Rugby League last evening, when, following the cancellation of the affiliation of the Wellington League, the delegate, Mr- R. W. Pollock automatically vacated his seat as representative. Mr. E. Stallworthy (Northland) moved that a vote of appreciation of the work of Mr. Pollock be minuted. Seconding this Mr. N. A. Kyle (Taranaki) said Mr. Pollock had been a keen enthusiast for maDj years, and he hoped that it would not be long before the esteemed member would be back again as a delegate. ;The chairman (Mr. Cyril Snedden) said Mr. Pollock was a pioneer and as senior to the speaker when he joined the council, he noticed that Mr. Pollock always had shown great pertinacity in discussing football affairs and a profound knowledge of the code generally.
