PONSONBY HARBOUR RACE.
MOLLOY SHIELD ON SATURDAY.
The Ponsonby Amateur Swimming and Life-saving Club will hold the trans-harbour race for the Molloy Shield next Saturday. The course is from Chelsea ferry tee to Shelly Beach Baths. Swimmers must supply their own dinghies. Nominations close at the Tepid Baths tills evening.
A launch will leave the Shelly Beach Baths on Saturday at 1.45 p.m. to transport swimmers to the starting point, and arrangements have been made whereby several launches will patrol the course throughout the race. The club intends Issuing certificates to all competitors completing the course.
The Shield is at present held by J. Briggs, Otorohanga, who will again be a competitor. By winning the race the winner is entitled to hold the shield for a period of one year and receives a cup which is_ retained for all time. Fastest time also
