LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
NEWTON RANGERS' CLUB.
At the annual meeting of the Newton Rugby League Football Club last evening Mr. E. W. Taylor presided over an attendance of over seventy members and suonorters. Mr. D. Wilkie, chairman of the funier management committee and a member of the senior control board, also was in attendance. The report touched on the playing improvement and success of the club last year, and the balance-sheet disclosed a credit of £19 10/.
Officers were elected as follows:—Patron, Mr. Matt. Hooper; vice-patron. Mr. W. Monteith ; president, Mr. J. A. Lee, M.P.; committee, Messrs. E. \V. Tavlor, A. Black, C. Stanley. G. Sherry, W. Badley, Trevor Hall, W. 11. Jackson, A. McLeod and C. Turner. Mr. \V. Badley was re-clected chairman, Mr. H. Wood, secretary; P. Henry, treasurer (for 17tli year), and R. J. Barnes (auditor).
Mr. E. Roy Baddeley was elected club captain. After some discussion it was resolved to adopt the sole selector system and Mr. A. J. ("Dugie") McGregor was nnnimously elected selector and coach of fhe senior team, with Mr. A. McLeod in a similar capacity to the reserve team. Mr. ,V Mkldleton was appointed trainer and M" Turner runner ty steward. It was decided that training should commence at Carlaw Park on Saturday.
