AN ECHO IN AMERICA.

THE WORLD CONFERENCE. WASHINGTON, March 6. The State Department has appointed Mr. Richard Waslibnrn Child, wellknown author and diplomat, special adviser to the Secretary of State, Mr. Cordell Hull, in his capacity as chairman of the American delegation to the moribund World Economic Conference. They are to visit Europe and study economic conditions, particularly from tho standpoint of the resolutions pending or adopted by the conference. Officials declined to say whether they believe or even hope that the mission will lead to the reconvening of the conference.
