"CHATEAU" BREAD CONTRACT.

The Minister is reported as justifying this contract on the score of economy. What a great opportunity exists for the Department to effect further economies and have possibly the most unique hostel throughout the world, by extending the principle and running the Chateau entirely with prison labour. What an advertising inspiration—"Come to Enzed! Visit the only exclusive prison-run hostel in the world." We have languishing in our prisons a lot of wasted talent, and I feel sure it would be possible to secure a complete staff from the manager down to the bellboy from our prisons. If any shortage exists, one or more could be drafted from a mental institution. J. X. NOBLE.
