DEPORTED COOK.
PROHIBITED IMMIGRANT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. An Australian, Frederick Irvine, aged 33, a ship's cook, arrived in New Zealand in October as a stowaway on the Maunganui and was deported to Sydney. Somehow he got to Tahiti and he arrived back by the Makura yesterday. When he came before the Police Court to-day, charged with unlawfully landing, being a prohibited immigrant, it was stated that he had a fairly long list of convictions in Australia, the last being in Melbourne in 1931 for unlawfully wounding, though he was charged at the time with, attempted murder.
