RUAWARO MYSTERY.
ANONYMOUS LETTER. WRITER SOUGHT BY DEFENCE. Interest in the Ruawaro mystery was further aroused to-day when it was announced that a reward of £10 would be paid for an interview with the person who wrote a letter to William Alfred Bayly on November 10 last. Messrs. Dufaur, Lusk, Biss and Fawcett, the legal firm acting on Bayly's behalf, reproduce an envelope in an advertisement in this issue. The letter, which was anonymous, was stamped at Auckland at 2.30 p.m. on November 10, and the envelope was addressed as follows:— "Mr. Wm. Bayley, farmer, Ruawaro, via Huntly, Waikato." "Wo desire an interview with the person who addressed the envelope," states the advertisement. "We will pay £10 reward to such.person after an interview or any other person who arranges such an interview." The trial of Bayly, who is charged with murdering Samuel Pender Lakey and his wife, Christoble Lakey, at Ruawaro, on October 15 last, is expected to open in the Supreme Court at Auckland on Wednesday, May 2.
