COTTAGE HOME SCHEMES.
BOARD MAKES GRANT OF £1500 (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. Details of a scheme for the construction of cottage homes for aged and unfit ex-service men were placed before the New Zealand Expeditionary Force Canteen and Regimental Funds Trust Board to-day by a deputation from the Christchurch Returned Soldiers' Association. The scheme provides for the erection of cottage homes on an area of 15 acres made available by the Christchurch City Council. The board expressed Itself as very favourably impressed and decided to make a grant of £1500 to assist in initiating the scheme, subject to a grant being made also by the National War Funds Council. The question of future assistance from the canteen board, up to a total of £5000 in all, is to be favourably considered later as the scheme progresses.
