PROTECTION OF WOMEN.

The first meeting for the year of the board of the Society for the Protection of Women and Children was held on Monday afternoon, Mr. A. J. Stratford presiding. Regret was expressed at the loss to the board of the Rev. P. S. Smallfield, who has resigned his position. He has been a member of the board since 1918, and has held office as chairman continuously since 1920. He was elected a life member of the society. Mrs. F. J. Hutchinson was elected a member of the executive. The reports of the secretary and of the inspector showed that since the December meeting 647 interviews have taken place in the office, while 16S visits had been made to homes and institutions, etc., dealing with domestic troubles, ill-treated and under-nourished children, affiliation cases, criminal charges against children and various matters.
