TENNIS SHORTS AGAIN.
PROTEST AGAINST MEN. What is sauce for the goose is apparently not sauce for the gander! Shorts may be ill order for feminine wear, but when mere man decides to don such abbreviated garb lie brings upon his shoulders a storm of protest from the fair sex —at least, in some places. Women tennis players at Sydney have lodged a protest against men wearing shorts 011 the tennis courts. They consider that very few men look presentable in shorts, and that members of a team should be dressed with uniformity. In retaliation the offenders would be justified in remarking that, although few women look attractive in shorts themselves, yet they continue to wear them both for tennis and beach wear, irrespective of masculine opinion. A woman may play tennis in a sleeveless blouse, shorts and with stockingless legs; she may wear backless bathers and evening frocks, paint her finger nails any shade she chooses, or colour her lips a bright scarlet, and, although these fashions may not appeal to men, their murmured objections are left unheeded.
Shorts are universally worn by men in the tropics for tennis and general sports wear, irrespective of whether the wearers have suitable legs for the fashion or not.
