PRESSMEN ENTERTAINED.
CONFERENCE AT HANMEII. (Tsy Telegraph.—l'reas Associa'.lon.) HANMER, Wednesday. Delegates to the Press Conference were the guests of the forestry service staff this afternoon, being taken for a drive through the extensive plantations at Haniner Springs. Unfortunately, heavy rain was falling and the roads through the forests were very slippery. The delegates enjoyed a slide rather than a drive over several miles of roads. They found the experience interesting and thrilling though the downpour blotted out the distant view.
On returning; from the drive the delegates were entertained hv tlie hospital staff at afternoon tea, being received by Dr. P. D. Chisholm and the matron, Miss E. Hodges. Miss Hodges is a survivor from the hospital ship Marquette, which was torpedoed in the Mediterranean during the war. The visitors vere hospitably entertained and many had the privilege of being shown over the hospital, which possesses many features of unusual interest.
Rain had ceased in the evening and the prospects were better for to-morrow.
