ROAD REPORT.
TE KUITI-TAUMARUNUI.
ADVICE FROM A.A. PATROL.
A report from a patrol of the Automobile Association received in Auckland states that the portion of the main highway between Tc Kuiti and . Taumarunui, which gave trouble on Monday, has now improved. Between Mapia and Ongarue there ie a stretch of about five miles of very soft pumice where repair work is in progress. Heavy rain has made the route almost impassable without chains, but engineers working on the road have drained the surface water, and to-day conditions are improved. It is not likely, that trouble will occur again, and precautions are to be taken to keep the road in a fairly solid condition. A member of the association who travelled over the road on Tuesday stated that in his opinion the road between Hamilton and Tauraarunui was very poor for a main highway, and that it was in the worst condition it had been in for years.
