A dramatic account of the death of Mr. Henry Tarlton, one of Kenya's bestknown settlers, was related to the magistrate when a native named Odongo was charged with his murder. Two diminutive Kikuyu children, working as goatherds, told how they followed Odongo to the river, hoping he would give them fish. From behind a bush they said that they saw him steal quietly into a dam where Mr. Tarlton was fishing from a boat ant' attack him with a long curved knife. A Kikuyu woman with whom Odongo lived said he told her he killed Mr. Tarlton.
