"LUCKY SURPRISE."
ART UNION FUNDS. ALLOCATIONS APPROVED. £3000 FOR JOCKEY CEUB. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON", Thursday. Allocations of the proceeds from the "Lucky Surprise" art union, which closed last Saturday, were approved at a meeting of the Cabinet this afternoon. Details were announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. J. A. Young, as follows: —
Relief of distress, Auckland, Wellington, Cliristchurcli and Dunedin (£250 each), £1000; Hawkc's Bay Jockey Club, to assist in repairing earthquake damage to the club's building, £3000; Wellington hostel, for returned soldiers and sailors, £500; Bulier Mining Committee, for prospecting auriferous pakihi cement deposits, £300; Fendalton Tennis and Croquet Club, to liquidate bank overdraft and debentures, conditional on certain other liabilities being reduced by not less than £300, £1000; North Beach Gala and Foreshore Improvement Society, to liquidate bank overdraft, conditional on the society paying off all other liabilities, £400 Allenton Sports Club, toward liquidating bank overdrafts and debts, payment conditional on club providing at least £50 in the payment of other debts, £150. Howick Hall Improvement League, toward liquidating debts, payments conditional on the league providing the balance required to liquidate its liabilities, £500; Teniuka Library Committee, to liquidate bank overdraft, provided the committee raises £50 for the payment of debts, £350; Makarau Public Hall Committee, for reconditioning the hall and library, £200; Gorge Road Coronation Hall, to liquidate debts, payment conditional on the committee providing funds for the payment of the balance of the debts, and provided the committee raises £40 to complete the work unfinished, £150; Millers Flat Hall Committee, to liquidate debts, payment conditional on the committee providing the balance required to liquidate its liabilities and raise sufficient money to- repaint the hall, £150.
Te Mata Hall Association, to liquidate bank overdraft, provided tlic association raises sufficient to pay off all its remaining liabilities, £100; North Kaipara Agricultural Association, for the liquidation of bank overdraft and other liabilites, £250; West Coast Agricultural and Pastoral Association, to liquidate bank oven"->ft and debentures, conditional oh the society reducing its other debts by £50, £250; Broad wood Agricultural and Pastoral Association, to liquidate bank overdraft, provided the association reduces its other debts by £50, £200; Rangitikei Agricultural and Pastoral Association, to liquidate bank overdraft, £200; Upper Wairoa Agricultural and Pastoral Association, for the removal and reconditioning of the hall. £200; Thames Valley Agricultural, Pastoral and Horticultural Association, toward liquidating bank overdraft and debentures, payment conditional on the association providing the balance required to liquidate its liabilities, £100. United Firo Brigades' Association, for conference expenses in 1934, ' £500; Kohukolm Domain Board, to liquidate bank overdraft, £150; . Citizens' Day Nursery, Wellington, £150; Southland Children's Health Camp, £150; Taranaki Egg-laying Competition Society, in liquidation of bank overdraft, conditional on other debts being reduced by the society, £100.
