MANUKAU ROAD.

renumbering proposed

The City Council's intention to re, number the western side of Manukau Road, from Fairfax Road to the city boundary at "Pah Road, was notified to the, : One*Tree< Hill Borough Council last evening. The . council was requested to consider the renumbering of the other side of tir.e road to conform. In reporting on the proposal, the tovai clerk; Mr. A, Leese,; disagreed with the contention of the city engineer that the whole length of the road on the city side must be regarded as a potential .shopping and business area. For that reason the city engineer, it was pointed lout, had reserved numbers *to allow | development in this direction. Mr. I Leese contended that the residential area adjacent to the road was mostly 'built on, and without additional population new shopping areas, would not be established. The matter was left to the town clerk and the building insjtector to bring down a report.
