General O'Duffy, speaking at Lismore, prophesied that an election would be held in March. He declared that the Irish people were weary of Mr. do Valera's empty promises. Mr. do Valera, lie declared, in the . event of an election, must settle the issue of the economic war with Britain ■ beforehand and go to the country on , that basis. His present policy was . ruining agriculture and pauperising the l people.

The Civic Guards, who were present, however, remained motionless at his declaration.
It is understood that the Free State ] Government may seek Parliamentary powers to impose restrictions on imports by means of quotas, thus giving it a new weapon with which to continue the economic war with Britain and secure new markets abroad for Free State produce. The newspaper "An Phoblacht" (''The Republic") publishes the following call to arms: — "England never feared Ireland except when faced by the force of arms. Ihis is the only way to oppose her claim to rule Ireland, whose youth must judge and judge quickly. England is preparing for Avar and armed Ireland waits ready. When the time comes to strike will you bo ready?"
