First Registered Betting Shop
Opened. EXCITEMENT AT ADELAIDE. (Received 10.30 a.m.) ADELAIDE, this day. The opening of the first registered betting shop in the city caused tremendous excitement. Although 20 bookmakers were in attendance, tliej were unable to cope with the rush of business, which exceeded all expectations. -Thousands fought madly to enter the basement of Tattersall's Club, where bets were being accepted on the Melbourne races, as there was no meeting in Adelaide.
