GISBORNE NOTES.
Mr. and Airs.- R. U. Burke, Northcote Road, returned from Lake Rotoiti this week. Mrs. G. Bloomfield and Miss J. Bloomfield, accompanied by the former's sister, Mrs. Horton (Auckland), spent a dav or two at Lake Rotoiti as the guetts of Mrs. H. B. Williams, on their return journey to Gisborne after a holiday visit to Auckland. Mrs. Horton is staying with Mrs. Bloom field at Wlmtatutu. Miss E. Wighton has returned from Hawke's Bay. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. N. Thomas returned from Rotoiti on Sunday. Mrs. P. H. Hamilton is spending a holiday at Whangarei as the guest of Mrs. Parke Pittar. Miss G. Knight, Dannevirke, is the guest of Mrs. W. Bruce, Massey Road. Mr. and Mrs. T. G. Fronde, Stout Street, accompanied by their family, have left for Dunedin. Mr. and Mrs. C. Tattersfield and Miss M. Tattersfield, Stout Street, have returned from Auckland and Rotorua, where they spent a fortnight's holiday. Miss Patricia Burke is visiting Hawke's Bay. Miss J. Margoliouth has returned to town after being the guest of Mrs. C. G. Pyke, Manutukc. Miss Rita Barry is spending a few days at Wainui Beach with her sister, Mrs. E. T. Chrisp. Mr. and Mrs. ,T. A. McLeod, "Swarthmoor." are the guests of Colonel and Mrs. Dowding at Lake Rotoiti. Miss Nancie Scott was the guest of honour at two parties on Thursday, Mrs. W. A. Bowie being hostess at morning tea. cntertainng a few friends in a delightful manner. The guests were Mesdanies G. I. Parker, A. L. Singer, S. D. Nathan, H. G. Hall (Hamilton), R. G. Crawford, Misses M. Rees, C. Bright and P. Seymour. Thc hostess was smart in a green, black and white printed crinkled crepe frock and a green straw hat, and Miss Scott wore a becoming frock of black and white patterned silk crepe and a black hat. In the afternoon Miss Scott was entertained at a bathing and tea party at Wainui Beach by her cousin. Miss Tui Gardner. The weather was fine and sunny, and the. dip in the sea was very much appreciated by thc guests in their gay bathing costumes. Sunbathing and social chat followed, while tea was served by the hostess and her mother. Mrs. ,T. Gardner, and sister. Mrs. H. E. Cave. Miss Gardner was frocked in white linen, and Miss Scott in lettuce green and white striped silk. The guests were Dr. Nina Muir, Mesdamos W. A. Bowie, S. D. Nathan. W. L. Irwin, G. T. Parker. H. G. Hall (Hamilton), and R. L. Williams. Misses P. Price. P. Burke. J. and M. Blair, E. Hegarty. K. SherrifF. A. Thorne George (Auckland). M. Rees, M. Slierrntt. G. Kingston (Auckland). A. and E. Barker, C. Bright, J. Dunlop and P. Seymour. There was a good attendance of players at the Gisborne Croquet Club's courts on Wednesday, the occasion being club day. Tea was served in the pavilion, the refreshment being very welcome after playing in the sunshine, the courts all having been occupied from an early hour. Among thc members present were Mesdames H. Gilmer, R. Johnston. J. K. Naismith. T. G. Lawless, T. Corson, R. Robertson, Kennedy. H. H. Do Costa. F. E. Omiiston. G. Henderson, W. J. Simpson. J. S. Wauchop, .T. S. Waite, Gandcll. A. J. Barnard. D. G. Robertson and McGregor, and Miss Colebourne.
