VISIT TO MUSSOLINI. Britisher Welcomed by Italian Ministers. CONFERENCE WITH IL DUCE. (British Official Wireless.) (Received 1.30 p.m.) RUGBY, January 2. The British Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Sir John Simon, and Lady Simon arrived by air this afternoon at the Carlo del Prete aerodrome, Oztia, near Rome. The visitors were welcomed by Signor Uvich, the Italian Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, and General Guizeppe Valle, Under-Secretary for Aviation. They then left by motor car for Rome. It is expected that Sir John will meet the Italian Prime Minister, Signor Mussolini to-morrow and leave for London on Friday. The visit to Rome by Sir John Simon is in response to an invitation which was issued by Signor Mussolini. It is understood that the purpose of the meeting is to discuss important European problems. Sir John was on holiday at the Italian island of Capri.
