YACHT DAISY.
DISMASTED IN GULF. NO ADVICE RECEIVED. VESSEL WITHOUT STORES. Inquiries are being made to ascertain the whereabouts of the Auckland 30ft B class yacht Daisy, which had her mast broken last Sunday morning while oil the way to Leigh from Tort Fitzroy. A decision was made to return to the Barrier under jury rig, but up to this afternoon there was no report of the yacht having arrived there. The crew on board are Messrs. G. Mabcrley, H. Morton and T. Wellington. They are making a holiday cruise in the gulf. Two Auckland trawlers which returned from the Great Barrier this morning reported having seen no sign of the yacht. The view was expressed this, afternoon by Mi'. J. Wellington, father of two of the members of the crew of the Daisy, that the yacht in all probability had gone into one of the smaller harbours in the locality. The Daisy, he said, had left Auckland last Saturday week on a cruise, and at 8 a.m. on Sunday had left Port Fitzroy on her return. Twelve miles out from I'ort Fitzroy the mainmast broke, and while the jury mast was being rigged a mullet boat called the Imp came alongside, and to it was transferred Mr. Fat Wellington, aged 19, who was ill. As the mullet boat left the younger boy was given to understand that the Daisy, which was heading for Port Fitzroy, was making good headway towards the Great Barrier. There were hardly any stores on the yacht, because the cruise was at an end. As no report has since been received from the Daisy, Mr. Wellington has communicated with the police. His son Pat arrived home on Monday afternoon by service car from Leigh.
