STATE OF SIEGE.
Rebellion in Argentine Suppressed. PRINCIPAL CITIES QUIET. BUENOS AIRES, January 1. A state of siege was declared for an indefinite period on Friday night by the Argentine Government following upon the discovery 6f a revolutionary plot leading to violent disorders in four provinces. The declaration of a state of siege, which is similar to a state of war, followed upon a Cabinet meeting at which it was decided tlie disorders must be curbed at any cost. The Government announced earlier that the plot was launched before dawn by extremist elements among the nation's million radical voters who have been disenfranchised since 1930. The rebellion had been suppressed. Private reports from Rosario, in Sante Fe province, said firing was renewed during the morning between the rebels and the loyal forces at Rosario where 20 were slain on Thursday night. The rebels claimed that they controlled most of the police stations in Sante Fe, but Buenos Aires, where all policemen and two regiments were held in readiness, and other cities were quiet.
