DESTROYS TYPHOID.

Ordinary Red and White French Wines. DOCTOR'S ' EXPERIMENTS. (Received 1.30 p.m.) PARIS, January 1. Wine is a powerful protection against typhoid germs, says Dr. Andre Kling, director of the Paris Municipal Laboratory, in an article in the "Revue des Boissons" (Drinks' Review). He took bacilli from the polluted waters of the River Seine, added ordinary red and white wines, which in 10 minutes destroyed microbes of virulent powers. Even when diluted with the same quantity of pure water, the wine maintained its germ-destroying properties, for which purpose, he says, new wines are preferable to old. Dr. Kling confirms Pasteur's opinion that wine, taken in moderation, is humanity's healthiest beverage.
