CHRISTMAS DAY.

PATIENTS IN HOSPITAL

NAVAL BASK CELEBRATION.

The wards were decorated at the ' Auckland Hospital yesterday, and a personal visit to every patient was made by the chairman of the board, Mr. W. Wallace, Dr. J. W. Craven, medical superintendent, and Dr. W. Gillies Borrie. A special Christmas dinner was served to the patients. Mr. Wallace and members of the board visited the infirmary and Alexandra, Convalescent Home. Through the efforts of the Presbyterian social service organisation a Christmas tree was provided for the children in the isolation ward at the Auckland Hospital. Navy Observation. Christmas was celebrated in traditional way at the Devonport naval base. A religious service was conducted by ■! HeV. H. K. Viekery, and a Chrintmas dinner \ ■ provided on the ships, which were decorated for the occasion with greenery and pohutukawa. The majority of the ratings on the warships are on leave, while to the others special Christmas leave was granted.
