The State Cabinet has offered the position of director of the State Conservatorihm of Music to Mr. Edgaf Bainton, of Newcastle-on-Tyne, England. Mr. Edgar Leslie Bainton has, since 1912, been principal of the (Jonservatorium of Music, Newcatstle-on-TynC, where lie became Pi'ofesSOr of Piano and Composition. He is 53 years of age. He lias had a distinguished career as a conductor, aiid is the author of numerous musical publications.
