W.D.F.U.
TOWAI. Over 200 children attended a picnic organised by the Towai W.D.F.U. last week. Many adults also accompanied their families, and a most enjoyable day was spent. Sports occupied the moraine and then young and old were invited to° partake of a sumptuous sit-down lunch in the local hall, and a busy time ensued for the ladies of the committee in attending to the needs of their visitors. When lunch was dispatched the principal event of the day, the fish pond, took place, and each youthful angler hooked a present suitable to his or°her age. A musical pr"gramme then followedf given by the Towai and Maromaku scholars, and was much appreciated. Several children were in fancy dress.
