The Otahuhu Borough Council met last night, the Mayor, Mr. H. T. Clements, presiding. Pictures on Christmas Day.—A letter was received from the local picture proprietors requesting • permission to show pictures on Christmas Day and submitting the programme it was intended to show. Mr. Grey considered a more suitable programme could be found, and lie moved that a committee be set up to censor a programme, and if a suitable one could be arranged, permission to show on Christmas Day be granted. This was adopted. Relief Work. —Consideration was given to the circular outlining the Unemployment Board's new policy. Mr. Sinclair said the implication was that the men would be required for camp, and he suggested the. council should give an expression of opinion on this aspect. The Mayor said that if the council could show a reasonable need for the work they were doing, there was no reason why the men should not be allowed to go on with it. It was decided to prepare a list of works being done by relief labour, and a special meeting will be held in committee to discuss the council's policy with regard to drafting men to camp.
