(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)

WHANGAREI, Thursday.

Thero was an unwelcome caller in a Parahaki Street house recently. Both Mr. and Mrs. J. Murphy, the owners, wero away, and the windows and doors wero left unlocked. When the children returned, from school they were surprised to see a stranger in one of the rooms. He was effectively disguised in a pair of sandshoes, a long overcoat and a pair of motor goggles. He had evidently just arrived and, on seeing the children, made a -quick getaway, disappearing in the direction of Mill Road. Nothing was taken from the house.
