GANDHI GOES ON TOUR.
Hoist With His Own Petard in
Nagpur.

CALCUTTA, November 9,
Gandhi has arrived in Nagpur on a tour of Tndia on behalf of social outcasts. In an addi-ess to a large audience he sa\d: "I started this all-India tour in order to remove the curse on untouehability. Either untouchability must go or I shall perish in the attempt."
Gandhi was hoist with his own petard at Nagpur to-day. Certain untouchables wanted to interview him, and he replied that he was too busy with other engagements. Thereupon they committed "satyagraha" by lying down on the road in front of Gandhi's car. Gandhi was only able to proceed after his supporters had assaulted the satyagrahis.

The Secretary of State for India, Sir Samuel Hoare, has completed his evidence before the Joint Sub-committee on Indian Constitutional Reform. Questions were asked on 4500 specific points about the constitutional proposals in the Government's White Paper on India, and the actual number of questions dealt with by the Minister exceeded that number by many thousands.
