N.Z. TROTTING CUP.

SIR GUY AND WRACKLER,

A GOOD WORK-OUT.

(By. Telegraph.—Special to " Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. At Addington this morning Sir Guy (C. King) and Wrackler (J. Berlins) were associated in a convincing essay over two miles. From a flying start Sir Guy was left a length and a half in front of Wrackler, who trailed Sir Guy for a mile and seven furlongs. At that stage of the trial Wrackler endeavoured to catch Sir Guy, but Sir Guy finished too well for his opponent and reached his destination two lengths clear of Wrackler. It was a splendid work-out, the speed being on all the way. Sir Guy paced the first two furlongs in 31 4-ss, the half-mile in 1.4 2-5 and the six furlongs were negotiated in 1.37 3-5, and the mile in 2.11. Still with Wrackler tucked in behind him Sir Guy dashed past the mile and a quarter peg in 2.44 4-5, and was going great guns at the mile and a half in 3.19. Still full of running he got down to the mile and three-quarter peg in 3.51 1-5, with Wrackler pacing in good style and just in behind him. Immediately the straight was reached Berlins pulled Wrackler out to challenge Sir Guy, but as soon as C. King shook the whip at Sir Guy he responded quickly and finished in a brilliant manner to beat Wrackler by two lengths. Sir Guy covered the two miles in 4.22 2-5 and Wrackler did 4.23. Sir Guy traversed the last mile and threee-quarters in 3.50 3-5, the last mile and a half in 3.18, the last mile and a quarter in 2.44 4-5, the last mile in 2.11 2-5, the last four furlongs in 1.3 2-5 and the final quarter-mile in 31 l-ss. By his showing Sir Guy made many friends for his New Zealand Cup engagement.
