PRISONER'S ADMISSIONS.
A prisoner serving a sentence of three years recently imposed at Wellington, Frederick Walter McLennan, baker, aged 30, appeared in the Police Court this morning charged with obtaining from J. A. Auger, on February 4, £5 by false prctences, and, on January 10, with stealing a radio set valued at £20, the property of an Auckland firm. McLennan pleaded guilty to both charges. Detective-Sergeant O'Sullivan said McLennan got in touch with Auger in January last as the result of an advert tisement. McLennan represented himself as the editor of a newspaper called the "Liberal," and further represented that he would employ Auger at a salary of £5 per week if he took five fully paid-up shares. He had an office at the time. There was no registered newspaper known as the "Liberal." McLennan obtained the radio set on approval, and later sold it to a hotelkeeper. "He's serving three years now, so I won't add to that," said Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., who convicted and discharged McLennan,
