The young couple found asleep in a motor car in Mair Street, Wliangarei, on Sunday morning, and later arrested, Roy Taj'lor, aged 22, and Jean Gwendoline Brown, aged 18, appeared on remand in the Police Court, Auckland, this morning. They were jointly charged with unlawful)' converting to their own use, on October 27, at Hobsonvillc, a motor car valued at £100, the property of Harry Speed. Mr. Dickson appeared for Taylor, and Mr. Wheaton for the gir-1 Detective-Sergeant O'Sullivan obtained a further remand in each case until November 7. Mr. Wheaton applied for an order for suppression of the girl's name and also asked that the present bail of £50 be renewed. Detective-Sergeant O'Sullivan said that the couple left Hamilton in a car and came to Auckland, and from Auckland they were alleged to have driven to Whangarei in another car. Both were found in this car in Wliangarei. The magistrate, Mr. Wyvern Wilson, said he did not see any necessity to make an order for suppression of the female accused's name, unless' there were special circumstances. "Well, I don't want to spoil my friend's, case, but my client was at a dance at Hamilton, and when she went for a drive with the man she understood that it was only to be a short ride," said Mr. Wheaton. The Magistrate: And yet she went to Auckland and on to Whangarei. Counsel said his client was dominated by the male accused. The magistrate refused to make an order for suppression.
