BULLER BY-ELECTION.
MB. P. C. "WEBB AT WESTPOBT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WESTPORT, Monday. The official Labour candidate in the Buller by-election, Mr. P. C. Webb, addressed' a large gathering in the Theatre Royal this evening. Mr. Webb urged the speedy completion of the Buller Gorge railway to absorb unemployment at award rates of pay and the cultivation of pakihi land, stating that the unemployed would be better occupied there than on the uneconomic work on which many of them were engaged. A vote of thanks and confidence was passed.
