SOCIAL GATHERINGS.

An enjoyable party was given at the Peter Pan Cabaret by Miss- Peggy MacLean, of Auckland, on the occasion of her 21st birthday. The guests included Mrs.-Norman. Chiplin, Misses BiHy Wiseman,'Lorraine Grey (Dunedin), Delphine Coward, and Edna Steel.

As a/wind up of the bridge evenings, a successful dance and social was held in St. Michael's Hall, Belmont, on Saturday evening. Mrs. Piggott and Mrs. M. Buckley were hostesses. Music wae played by an augmented orchestra under the leadership of Mrs. Buckley. Mr. Sharp presented the prizes to the winners of the bridge, Mre. H. Osmers and Mr. Ogilvy, who were also the winners of the Monte Carlo waltz. Supper was served by the ladies' committee. Among those present were: Mesdames Wyatt, G. West, J. Gray, J. Edwards, Shanly, Mason, Ogilvy, A. Harper, Dawson, S. Clarke, Budgen, Eaton, Law, McCarthy, B. Smith, Rambaud, Powell, Parrington, Younger, McKenzie, Hutchings, Kitchingman; Misses M. McCullough, N. The Devonport Rebekah Lodge, 1.0.0. F., held a dance in the Masonic Hall last evening,' when the room was tastefully decorated with the lodge colours. An enjoyable dance and bridge evening, was held by the Otahuhu Golf Club, in the clubhouse,' Great South Koad, Papatoetoe, on Saturday evening. The ladies' committee comprised Mrs. McNeeley, .Misses Sill and Muir. During the evening trophies won in the club coinpetitions were presented by Mr. W. Mur-i doch. A meeting of the Mount Albert Welfare Auxiliary was held on Wednesday, when Mrs. E. Smythe, president, Mrs. Weaver, secretary, Mrs. Carruthcrs, treasurer, vice-presidenta Mesdames Turner, Smithwick, Tremain, and Mcßride, J.P., attended. Mrs. R. Ferner, the Mayorefcs, is a very regular and active member. The president, Mrs. E. 'Smythe, an active worker herself, congratulated the members on the wonderful result of their voluntary labour. Twenty-eight parcels had been made tip, comprising 58 garments. The ladies also attend , to the office on Monday from 10 a.m. and from 10 o'clock on Tuesday and Wednesday each week. The eewing and knitting meeting "is held every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All active workers are welcomed. ••'-,?: ■-

Streamers of blue and gold and the tennis clothes of the dancers made a gay ecene in the Kumeu Hall on Saturday evening, when the Tennis Club held its opening dance. Representatives from the surrounding district clubs were among the many visitors present. A dainty supper was served by the social committee, and dancing-- was enjoytvl until midnight.
