BRITISH INDUSTRIES' CASE. j REFRIGERATORS AND LENSES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Representations were made to the Tariff Commission yesterday by Mr. A. W. Hawley, on behalf of the Federation of British* Industries, for an amendment to the existing-tariff in respect of electric refrigerators, oilskin garments, combs and ophthalmic lenses. In support of his application in rejspect to lenses, Mr. Hawley stressed the importance of the industry to the Empire as a whole and the fact that United Kingdom lens manufacturers were competent to meet the whole of the New Zealand demand in a satisfactory manner, both for quantity and quality.
