Lynndale Harriers.

The Winter Champions.—A Season of Great Success. For a club only in its second year, the Lynnclale Harriers can look back on a wonderfully successful season. Winning tli-> ten-man team, race by a large margin, getting first and second in the steeplechase, and finishing second in every other team race held, it can claim to be a champion club. Its B team won the B grade championship with the <rreatest of ease, and its C team headed the rest of the clubs' B teams for second place —a remarkable performance. A. B. Browne's return to form has been a very popular one, and he ran second to Savidan in every open race of the season with the exception of the Onehunga road race, in which he was third to Savidan and Cooper. In this he showed great consistency, and his representing of Auckland in the team to Wanganui was a just'reward for a fine season. W. Briggs, through illness, was not quite up to form, but was always well to the front, finishing in the firs'; ten 011 every occasion. The club was very strong through the consistent running of many fine juniors and new members, of whom Crompton, who won the club novice championshp and was second in the open B grade race, was outstanding. He was ably supported by really fine runners in the three Henslialls, who are real "pillars" of the club, as well as by Fowlds, McCarthy (winner of the Auckland B grade championship), J. Green (third) and Rigden. Besides these the club had many fine handicap runners, such as Swinbourne (winner of points cup and second in steeplechase at trotting grounds), T. Clark (club's junior champion), S. Chappell, A. Lowry, Anderson (won the sealed handicap in team race), R. Harris, T. McLean, Pirritt and Baker, Heron, Simpson, H. Chappell and Burgess ran well at times, but many of the slower pack lack just that extra bit of keenness to make good club men. One of the club's main assets was the keenness of its committee, of whom C. Davidson, J. Chappell and J. Williams were great workers. The fine loyalty of Mrs. and Misses Chappell and Mrs. Williams, in supplying the boys with afternoon tea, whether it was wet or fine, was a great help. The club can certainly look forward with confidence to next season.
