RUGBY THOMSONS.
A Confusion of Identity. "H. McK.," Cambridge, -writes asking about A. Thomson, who playecl for Auckland in a trial match against Hawke's Bay. "Arty" Thomson, the Cambridge player, represented Waikato in 1921, 22, 23, 24 and 25. He played continuously for the Cambridge representatives for five-years after that. He was the reserve player for Northland-Auckland-Waikato against East Coast (Hawke's Lay and Poverty Bay) in the 1924 All Black trials at Eden Park when Karl Ifwersen—ineligible for the British tour —was called out instead of Thomson, after \ic Badeley had been injured. Obviously, therefore, Thomson was not identical with the South Island rep. of 1920-21, who played fcv Canterbury from. 1920 to 1924. The latter's name was Thompson, anyway.
