STANLEY CLUB.
Everything went well with the opening ceremony of the Stanley Club this afternoon. The weather, so important a factor to success, was all tliat could be desired. The president, Mr. A. C. Clarke, who was accompanied by Mrs. Clarke, received the guests. Mr. Clarke extended a cordial reception to all present. He thanked the executive members of the club for the help extended to him. Mrs. Clarke put up the first jack, followed by a bowl. The president then declared the green open. Mr. A. Harris, M.P., and Mr. H. F. W. Meikle, Mayor of Dcvonport, were among the guests. Mr. Howitt, of the Hospital Board, was also present, and in addition there were several members of kindred clubs. Afternoon tea was provided. Mr. J. \V, White represented the Auckland Bowling Centre.
