STANLEY CLUB.

Everything went well with the opening ceremony of the Stanley Club this afternoon. The weather, so important a factor to success, was all tliat could be desired. The president, Mr. A. C. Clarke, who was accompanied by Mrs. Clarke, received the guests. Mr. Clarke extended a cordial reception to all present. He thanked the executive members of the club for the help extended to him. Mrs. Clarke put up the first jack, followed by a bowl. The president then declared the green open. Mr. A. Harris, M.P., and Mr. H. F. W. Meikle, Mayor of Dcvonport, were among the guests. Mr. Howitt, of the Hospital Board, was also present, and in addition there were several members of kindred clubs. Afternoon tea was provided. Mr. J. \V, White represented the Auckland Bowling Centre. Tho following are the results of the afternoon's play: E. Jones, Sainty, S. Weller, Clarke 15, v. Donaldson, Kennedy, Whitley, J. W. White 13; Howitt, Johnson, Carter, Ilall 120, v. Hindman, Walters, Lock, A. E. Smith 17 ; Boss, Malr, Purser, McMaster 31, v. Darroeli, Woolf, Sullivan, W. Johnson 21 ; Aldridge, Jackson, Kitchens, Ogilvie 10, v. I*. Jones, Grinter, Bertrand, Wrigley 19 ; Forbes, Bartlett, Hooker 30, v. Dawson, Corbett, Gale, Wilson 11 ; Anderson, Butler, WorthJngton, Clarke IS, v. Burne, Nelson, J. IJ. Ward, Cullon 21 ; Harris, D. M. Jones 21, v. Hutt, Cusworth 17.
