Spreadeagles Field in Stewards'.

The programme commenced with the Waitemata Handicap, in which the only defection was Bustle, and Manna's Son, Mountain Sun and Indolent were in most demand, the first-named scoring an easy win by over 100 yds. As they raced along the back the first time Manna's Son and Pearl Parrish were well clear of Waskasu, Otara and Stalky, with Mountain Sun and Nelson. Pirate next. Passing the stand the first-named pair had increased their lead, and were followed by Waskasu, Golden Eagle, Mountain Sun and Otara. Manna's Son drew right away from Pearl Parrish along the back, where Golden Eagle ran into second place; then came Otara, Waskasu and Pearl Parrish. Turning for home, Manna's Son was 100 yds clear, and just strolled home to win by that distance from Golden Eagle, who beat Otara by half a length. Waskasu was fourth, followed by Nelson Pirate, Indolent, Mountain Sun and Autumn Sun„ Next Favourite Fails. Bare Bey, Koma Girl, Pelting and Our Summer dropjied out of the Improvers' 1 Handicap, the chief selections being Bingtrue, Great Chum and Nellota. When they were let go Kewpie's King stood on the mark and Jester lost his driver within the first one hundred yards. Peter Junior began best from Student Prince, Great Chum, Ringtrue, Kia Kalia and June Boyal, and the first three led past the stand from Tinokalia, Ringtrue, Bingen Chief and Nellota. Great Chum took- charge along the back on the final round, with Peter Junior 'and Student Prince handy, then came Tinokaha, Bingtrue, Worthy Chief and Nellota. There 'was little change into the straight, where Tinokaha ran up, but failed to catch Great Chum, who beat him by three lengths,_ with Peter Junior a length away. -Bingtrue was fourth, then came Worthy Chief, June Royal and Nellota. Winner Pays Big Dividend.

When the field paraded for the Jellicoe Handicap, Kewpie's Guy was the only absentee, and most money came for Pegaway, Great Parrish and Meteor, but Peter Pirate eventually won easily and paid over a score and a half. Jewel Pointer was side on when the barrier lifted and lost ground, the early leaders being Lady Coronado, Dan and Pegaway, and passing the stand the order was Lady Coronado, Prince Pedro, Dan Direct, Tactless, Pegaway and Kewpie's Triumph, witli Great Parrish, Meteor and Jewel Pointer following. Passing the stand the second time, Kewpie's Triumph was leading Tactless and Lady Coronado, with Prince Pedro, Dan Direct, Peter Pirate, Pegaway and Meteor in close attendance. They raced without change along the back, where Tactless moved up and led across the top from Peter Pirate, Prince Pedro and Meteor, with Lady Coronado handy. Peter Pirate ran to the front entering the straight, witli Tactless next, followed by Meteor, Lady Coronado and Great Parrish. Over the last furlong Peter Pirate drew out to win by two lengths and a half from Meteor, with Lcdy Coronado a neck away. Pegaway was fourth, then came Great Parrish, Jewel Pointer, Tactless, Kewpie's Triumph and Prince Pedro. A Close Finish. Capilano was the only withdrawal from the Parnell Handicap, in which the favourites were Homeward and Silver. Bingen, but an outsider, in Glandore, got the decision in a close finish and paid over a score. Glandore lost ground at the start and Bock Hinton was first out from Guid Hairst, Glandore, Pukeroiro and Silver Bingen, with Homeward last. Passing the stand Bock Ilinton w as showing the way to Guid Hairst and Pukemiro, with Homeward, Glandore and Silver Bingen following, and they raced in that order along the back. Pukemiro took the lead crossing the top, with Kock Hinton and Homeward "ext, then came Silver Bingen, Guid Hairst and Glandore, and so tliey raced 'nto the straight. In the run home Glandore came through very fast on the rails, and in a great finish got the verdict by a head from Silver Bingen, Homeward half a head away. Guid Hairst was fourth, followed by PukeDiiro and Bock Hinton. / Moko Girl at Last. The defections in the Mountain Handicap were Parrish Belle, Dark McKinney ®Jid Gay Paree. When betting ceased Moko Bells was a solid favourite, with Hilly Carbine next in demand. Moko Girl lost some ground at the start and Hue '-oronado led out from Billy Carbine, Carl Mack and Moko Bells. Passing the stand Bue Coronado was attended by Carl Mack and Billy Carbine, with Moko Bolls and Moko Girl next and they ran that order along the back. Moko Girl improved her position crossing the top and led into the straight, with Moko Bells close up, the pair being followed ;

by Billy Carbine and Hue Coronado, Carl Slack breaking repeatedly and losing ground. Moko Girl liekl lier position in the run home and won by 2.V lengths from Billy Carbine and Moko Bells, who dead-heated for second place. Carl Mack and Hue Coronado were next. An Impressive Win. Worthy Light and Le Chenault were withdrawn from the October Handicap, and Chancellor was a warm favourite, while Red Hope and Bonnie Direct also had friends. The early leaders were Lady Amanda, Wee Parrish and Phyllis Axworthy, but passing the stand Wee Parrish had taken charge from Lady Amanda, Phyllis Axworthy and Bonnie Direct, with Chancellor, Wliakaliihi and Bed Hope following. The order was the same along the back, where Phyllis Axworthy ran through and led into the straight from Bonnie Direct, Chancellor, Bed Hope and Lady Amanda. Chancellor finished fast and got up to beat Bonnie Direct by three-quarters of a length, with Lady Amanda a neck away third. Wee Parrish was fourth, followed by Phyllis Axworthy,""Red Hope and Wliakaliihi. Won All the Way. The favourite selections in the Electric Handicap were Great Parrish, Kewpie's Triumph and Tactless, the last-named winning all the way. When the field had settled down Tactless had charge from Stanmoor, the pair showing the way past I the stand from Kewpie's Triumph, Nelson Tasker and Great Parrish, with Jewel Pointer last. The order was unchanged along the back, and Tactless was followed across the top by Stanmoor and Kewpie's Triumph, the last-named pair being on terms in front of Nelson Tasker, Jewel Pointer and Great Parrish. _ As the field straightened up for home Kewpie's Triumph ran up second to Tactless, with Nelson Tasker and Stanmoor next, but the leader held his advantage and won by a length and a half from Jewel Pointer, who finished fast and beat Stanmoor by a similar margin for second money. Kewpie's Triumph, Great Parrish and Nelson Tasker were next. Won As He Liked.

The defections in the Stewards' Handicap, the final race of the day, were Chancellor, Fisher and Wee Machine. In a solid betting race most money was invested on Cimarron, Donum and Mazda, and the race proved a good thing for the favourite, who won as he liked. Soon after the start Stormy Mack broke and lost ground, and the favourite went to the front from Bell Dial and Key de Quest, and he led past the stand, well clear of Bell Dial, Tempo, Stormy Mack and Key de Quest. Along the back Cimarron was about 200 yards clear of the field, with Bell Dial, Tempo and Stormy Mack following in that order. Donum, Mazda and Bell Dial followed Cimarron in the straight, but had no hope of catching him, and he won easing up by eight lengths from Mazda, who beat Tempo by three lengths. Donum was fourth, with Rey de Quest, Bell Dial and Stormy Mack following in that order. The Totalisator.
