AUTUMN FASHIONS.
EVENING WEAR" FOR WOMEN. LONDON, October 8. Women may soon find themselves wearing fancy-dress fashions, says the "Daily Mail!" The thin edge of the wedge is apparent in the autumn dress shows. Designers are showing masses of expensive fox fur twined round the coat sleeves, serving no purpose except sheer extravagance. What is the reason for this outbreak of foolish trimmings on evening gowns, including exotic feathers and masses of bustle-like drapery? No woman looks her best in a frock with tall plumes springing from the shoulders like shrubs round a flower bed.
A cloak actually displayed holes cut in the shoulders to avoid crushing the masses of paradise plumes adorning the gown. This might look well in musical comedy, but it is doubtful whether any leading lady would have time to put it on.
