Japanese Competition Proving Serious. IDLENESS IN BRITAIN. LONDON, October 12. A joint industrial council, at a meeting in Manchester, discussed the serious effect of Japanese competition with tlie British silk industry, which is causing much unemployment. A resolution was carried urging the Government to regulate Japanese imports, and if necessary totally prohibit them.
