WHITNEY'S CONDITIONS. NEW YORK, October 10. The ownor of Equipoise, Mr. C. Y. Whitney, stated to-day that ho had discussed the matter of a match between Winooka and Equipoise with Mr. Naylor, whom he had told that he felt, if the conditions were agreeable, and Winooka would prove liis right to such a race by defeating first-class horses, ;i lace with Kquipoi.se would be of public interest. Mr. Naylor had suggested that the distance be seven furlongs, and the weights between 7.2 and 8.0. Mi". Whitney said lie could not agree. Hα felt that the race, which would be of international importance, .should be at one of America's, classic distance*, either a mile and an quarter or- a mile and an eighth, and thai tlie horses should carry stake weights.

As it wa.s impossible to agree upon these conditions Mr. Whitney said he believed ,i race at a mile, with at least S.S up, would have considerable public appeal, although, in his estimation it would not be a contribution to the turf such as a race over a longer distance would. Ho had consented, however, to a race at a milo. providing that Winooka triumphed in Maryland.
