This horse may show up in the Farmers' Steeplechase at the Hunt meeting. Cordon has been getting through a good preparation lately and is looking well. He ran impressively at the Pakuranga Hunt meeting in August and will have his nest outing at the Waikato Hunt meeting. Irish Comet jumped the country in good style on Tuesday.' Lady Zinnia, with Princess Bede, ran three furlongs in 40s. This mare performed well at the Rotorua Hunt meeting. Booklaw has been schooled over hurdles lately and has shaped well. Sandy Dix has also been going along nicely. Coachman has gone on the right way since winning at Ellcrslie, while Prolyxo has also been getting through some solid work. Great Britain has been doing serviceable tasks recently and is looking Very well. Royal Damon has not raced for a long time, but in his work he has shown that he still possess.es some of his old dash, while Chromadyne has been on the easy list lately. A. E. ELLIS' SUSPENSION. "■ The judicial stewards of the Dunedin Jockey Club concluded an inquiry at Wingatui on Saturday into the crossing of the field by Control shortly after the start of the McLean Stakes on Thursday (says the '•Press")- At the opening of the. inquiry on Thursday evidence was given by the two .patrol stewards present at the start that Control caused serious trouble to some of the other contestants by quickly running to the rails from his sixth position at the barrier. At the request of Ellis the inquiry was adjourned until Saturday to enable him to call evidence regarding the gelding's waywardness on the tracks. Hits trainer, F. D. Jones, stated that Control had several times run olf the track, when working, and as his stable apprentices were unable to handle him Jones engaged Ellis specially to ride him each morning. An improvement had been effected, but Control was still liable to give trouble, and on the day before the race ran off the track when galloping with Custodian. Later in the afternoon it was officially announced that Ellis had been suspended for two months for crossing the field. Ellis is likely to make representation to have the term reduced. The suspension will mean the lass to him of many important rides at both the Wellington and New Zealand Cup meetings, and represents at least a fine of £200 for his misfortune in being unable to check a wayward two-year-old.
