MATCH FOR WINOOKA.
ARRANGED FOR SATURDAY. AGAINST THREE OTHERS. CHICAGO, October 7. Winooka is to meet Gay World, winner of the Chicago Derby, Malolo and Tela in a special purse race, of 5000 dollars, at Fairmount Park, Illinois, on October 14.
Another special race in which Winooka is likely to meet George Widener's Jamestown, A. L. Aste's Character, J. W. Y. Martin's Conamore and the Lemar Stock Farm's Marooned has been arranged for October 20 at Laurel track. The Maryland State Fair Association has agreed to offer a purse of 2500 dollars. The distance of the race will probably be six furlongs.
Gold Step -won the Century Handicap at Jamaica, New York, to-day. After the race his owner, H. H. Fairbanks, announced that he was willing to wager 5000 dollars at even money that Lie horse could defeat Winooka. "I will match Gold Step against Winooka any time on any track over six furlongs at 7.12," lie said.
