WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.

ALBANY. A meeting of the Albany Women's Institute was held recently, when Miss Potter presided. An interesting letter from !Mi»s Stops, in England, contained a motto, "Service, sincerity and simplicity." Mr. Muller gave an address on "Danish Folk Schools," and a number of questions were answered. The competition, cushion cover made from. sugar bags, made a bright display, Miss Sloane winning first, and Miss Potter and Mrs. Hunt second. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames H. Day, J. Day and T. Cowley. SWANSON. At the monthly meeting Mrs. E. Freeman was elected delegate for Swanson for the coming conference to be held in Auckland. Songs 'were given by Mrs. A. Vaile, and a piano solo by Mrs. G. Taylor. The hostesses were Mrs. P. Clark and Mrs. G. Taylor. At the "back to childhood" dance prizes were won by Miss J. Cutler, Mrs. Winter, Mrs. Nankaville, Bruce Close, Mr. F. Koss and Mr. McGarJen. MANGAWEKA. The president, Mrs. Pairman, presided over the October meeting on Tuesday last. Many visitors were present from Ohingaiti and Utiku Institutes. Mrs. Woi>l'old. of Ohingaiti, gave a demonstration of making lamp shades. The competition, best jar of marmalade, resulted: Mrs. Dickinson 1, Mrs. Pairman 2, Mrs. Hamilton 3. Goods from the Blind Institute were on sale, and a generous supply of children's clothes was contributed for relief purposes. Mrs. Diilsnam and Mrs. Kirkby were appointed delegates to the Turakina conference.
