PROTEST AGAINST BILL.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) MATAMATA, Monday. Strong criticism of the Reserve Bank ! Bill was expressed at a meeting which filled the Matamata Town Hall. Mr. W. A. Gordon, chairman of the Town Board presided, and Mr., A. C. A. Sexton, of Auckland, was the speaker. A resolution was carried as follows:—"That this mass meeting of residents of Matamata and district voices its strong protest against the attitude of the Government in proceeding with the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Bill, despite the fact that it has been condemned throughout New Zealand, and views with grave apprehension the persistency with which the Government has disregarded all requests for a full and open inquiry into the monetary system. This meeting urges emphatically that Cabinet abandon the measure until such time as an impartial tribunal, presided . over by a Supreme Court judge, shall have conducted a public inquiry into the position and issued its report."
