SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION.

TOWN HALL DEMONSTRATION. Representatives from Sunday schools in all parts of the city were present at the annual rally of the Auckland Sunday School Union, held on Saturday evening in the Town Hall. The choirs who recently competed in the union's musical contest sang several songs, under the baton of Sir. E. Varley Hudson. Especially good were two action songs by children of the Manurewa Home, which well deserved the applause that greeted them. Another popular item was a sketch "The Old Woman and Her Shoe," presented by scholars of the. Balmoral Presbyterian Sunday School. The Auckland Battalion of the* Boys' Brigade gave a vigorous rendering of "The Anchor Song," and the fifth and second companies gave demonstrations of barbell exercises and pyramids respectively. The St. John's Methodist Sunday School presented a dramatised Bible story. The first jmblic appearance of the Ist Auckland Cfiiupany of the Girls' Life Brigade was made in a demonstration of club swinging. The president of the union, Mr. W. H. Newton, presented shields won in the recent choral contest, and shields for the best work in the scripture examination. Mrs. Newton presented the scripture prizes. The principal awards were as follow:— Musical Shields.—Senior: Dominion Road Methodist. Junior: St. John's Methodist. Shields for best work in scripture examination: Division A, Mount Albert Methodist; division B, Avondale Baptist; division C, Puriri; division D, Whakapara Presbyterian. Special prizes: Grade 1, Mrs. 11. Turner, Mount Albert Baptist; grade 2, Kathleen Ashton, Henderson Methodist; grade 3, Phyllis Moore, Richmond Baptist; grade 4, Bruco Harris, Tabernacle Baptist; grade 5, Marjorie Button, Avondalo Baptist; grade 0, Glen Nicholson, Mount Albert Presbyterian.
