MARERETU INSTITUTE.

The monthly meeting was held at Mrs. Gorrie's residence, when the president, Mre. Appleyard, presided. Tho roll call for the afternoon was for an eggless cake, and a good many recipes came in, of which some were forwarded for the Institute cookery book. There was a good display of work in the competition for thrift articles, the winner being Mrs. Edwards, with a cot quilt made trom bits of eilk. The second was Miss Spick, with a rug niado from old silk stockings. Three pence each was given ro the 'Paparoa flower show committoc to go towards getting a trophy for the flower show. Afternoon tea was handed .•pund by the hostesses, Meedamcs Flower, Granthnm, Bull and Miss Gorrie.
