Tlie first cedar tree was taken to England in the late seventeenth century, eo that, with the exception of the parent tree, a couple of hundred years is the probable limit of the oldest specimens. With the more venerable yew there is ground for believing- that it has attained as great an age as 2000 yeata in England.
